Gilbert

Questo è il post dei "primi": la mia prima tasca a filetto, la mia prima zip nascosta, i miei primi passanti, insomma... I MIEI PRIMI PANTALONI!! Mi ero imposta di cucirne almeno un paio quest'inverno (e per quanto ci è voluto direi che saranno anche gli unici :D) e dopo quasi un mese sono riuscita ad indossarli!

This is the post of "the first one": my first welt pocket, my first fly zip, my first belt loop, so... MY FIRST TROUSERS!! In the planning of my sewing project for this winter I decided to sew at least one pair of pants ( It will be the only one considering the time I spent to sew it :D) and after about a month I can wear it! 

Come modello ho scelto Gilbert di République du Chiffon: l'ho scoperto più di un anno fa e me ne sono subito innamorata. Mi piace molto questo tipo di pantaloni, un po' maschili, ma ogni volta che ne provavo uno nei negozi non mi piacevano come vestibilità: fianchi troppo larghi, gamba troppo lunga, difetti un po' ovunque... non che questo non ne abbia, anzi, e quindi ho deciso di farmeli da sola.

Il tessuto è un misto lana acquistato su Pretty Mercerie, mi è sembrato perfetto da abbinare al modello dei pantaloni!

Le mie misure sono tra la 36 e la 38. Ho deciso di tagliare una 38 ma in corso d'opera ho dovuto restringere tutto perché era molto largo, almeno un paio di centimetri per lato. E qui viene il primo errore: stringendo sui fianchi non sono riuscita a chiudere le pieghe come nel modello originale. Inizialmente le avevo cucite ma le tasche tiravano in avanti, per cui le ho scucite e lasciate aperte.

Per la prossima volta andrò sulla 36, sperando di non dover fare modifiche.

The pattern is Gilbert of République du Chiffon: I discovered it more than a year ago and it was love at first sight. I like men's style pants, but whenever I try on in the stores they don't fit me well: hips too wide, too long leg, defects almost everywhere... So I decided to sew it by myself.
I bought the fabric on Pretty Mercerie, I thought that they match perfectly.
My size is between 36 and 38. I decided to cut the 38 but in the course of work I had to shrink all because it was very large, at least a couple of centimeters on each side. First error: shrinking the sides I haven't been able to close the pleats as in the original pattern. At first I had sewn the pleats but the pockets were too open, so I unstitched them.
Next time I'll cut the 36 size, hoping don't have to make changes.

Altra parte che mi ha fatto impazzire: la tasca a filetto sul retro. L'ho cucita due volte perché non mi soddisfava il risultato, alla fine l'ho lasciata così per evitare di rovinare il tessuto. Nelle istruzioni si consiglia di rinforzare con la teletta le due linguette della tasca. L'effetto è molto rigido, la prossima volta farò senza.

Ho invece volutamente modificato l'altezza del cavallo accorciandolo di qualche centimetro.

Another part that made me mad: the welt pocket on the back side. I stitched it twice because I wasn't satisfied with the result, I haven't sewn for the third time to avoid ruin the fabric. 
Instead, I intentionally changed the height of the crotch reducing it a few centimeters.

Nel complesso posso dire di essere molto soddisfatta del risultato, con tutti i difetti.

Overall I am very satisfied with the result, with all the flaws.
